Avo Insurance revamps its travel protection plan to offer COVID-19 testing

To support travellers during the time of COVID-19, Avo Insurance (Avo) has launched a new travel protection plan for Hong Kong based travellers who need to return to Mainland China. To alleviate travellers’ fear of the pandemic, Avo has partnered with CUHK Medical Clinic to offer COVID-19 real-time PCR test (deep throat saliva test) to Avo’s clients. Insurance holders are now eligible to add extra benefits to their China or Greater Bay Area (GBA) Travel Protection, for a worry-free and safe trip. The additional services include the aforementioned COVID-19 testing which is supplemented by Avo’s complementary Coronavirus Disease Protection.

Avo offers affordable GBA Travel Protection and China Travel Protection to everyone, with policy premiums starting at HKD8 and HKD36 respectively, providing coverage on accident, emergency medical and related services, and more during the trip. Policyholders of GBA Travel Protection or China Travel Protections are eligible to extend their protection with COVID-19 testing by CU Clinic and Coronavirus Disease Protection for a total of HKD950.

Under the extended services, policyholders are required to arrange an appointment with CU Clinic for a deep throat saliva test before departure. After one to two working days from the specimen submission date, the test report will be delivered by a HKSAR Government recongised local COVID-19 testing institution. In the event of testing positive for COVID-19, policyholders can redeem hospital cash of HKD10,000 during the 30-day coverage period of Coronavirus Disease Protection (starting from the departure date).
