Digital insurance provider Blue launches market’s first top up outpatient plan

In a bid to offer innovative and flexible solutions to its customers, Hong Kong’s first digital life insurance provider ‘Blue’ has launched WeMedi Top Up, a market-first top up outpatient plan facilitating the reimbursement of outpatient consultations.
According to the latest HKSAR Government statistics, patients pay a median net consultation fee of HKD260 with private practitioners, adding up to thousands of dollars within a one-year period. Taking these potentially high outpatient consultation fees into consideration, WeMedi Top Up plugs several loopholes by helping customers reduce their protection gap. Under the new plan, customers can top up their existing group or personal outpatient reimbursement plans by other insurers. After reimbursement, customers can receive subsidies for their medical expenses.
The plan features three levels of benefit, namely Entry, Standard and Premium. Depending on the level of benefit applied, post-consultation coverage can include General Practitioner, Specialist or Chinese Herbalist, Acupuncture and Chiropractic treatments. Customers are able to enjoy instant coverage and make claims as soon as their plan is effective.
With no waiting period, customers can claim up to HKD10,500 in top up benefits per policy year and make use of Blue’s burden free application platform. Without having to provide medical records, customers are able enjoy Blue’s streamlined claim process by simply providing medical receipts and claim statements. Successful applicants will receive reimbursement directly into their bank account via FPS in as fast as one hour.
