Conceptualised by acclaimed Hong Kong media artist Chris Cheung, FutureScope is a fully immersive audio-visual art dome that will present exhibitions in collaboration with international artists Daito Manabe, Sainkho Namtchylak, and more.
FutureScope, Hong Kong’s first-ever large-scale art dome, debuts in Hong Kong this December, bringing a series of immersive multi-sensory experiences to the public. From 19 December 2025 to April 2026, the waterfront venue Dream by the Sea at Kai Tak Sports Park (outside Kai Tak Stadium Gate B) will host a journey through Eastern philosophy and media art, curated by FutureTense – the platform envisioned by media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m), recently honoured as ‘Artist of the Year (Media Arts)’ at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. This visionary ArtTech experience will elevate media art to new heights, showcasing innovative works that will captivate visitors and redefine the cultural landscape of Hong Kong.
Entering Hong Kong’s first 360° immersive art dome
Following the success of art domes around the world, FutureScope brings Hong Kong its first-ever large-scale art dome. Set outside, overlooking Hong Kong’s famous Victoria Harbour, the 12-meter diameter hemispheric theatre allows visitors a unique experience where they are surrounded by experiential art, with 360 degrees of sight and sound. This groundbreaking experience invites visitors to explore evolving media art within an engaging and accessible environment. At FutureScope, visitors can expect an unforgettable ArtTech experience.
Artistic director Chris Cheung (h0h1m) said, “Inside the art dome, visitors will encounter an immersive realm where the digital and celestial merge. Looking upward, they meet a universe of light and sound; stepping outside, their gaze returns to the boundless sky. This dialogue between created and natural worlds invites deeper reflection on how technology can expand our connection to art, to each other, and to the cosmos.”
Cross-disciplinary collaborations with world-class artists
FutureScope brings together cultural pioneers in media art, uniting Hong Kong media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m) and his acclaimed art collectives XCEPT and XCEED, collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists across disciplines. The exhibition launcheswith a collaboration featuring renowned Japanese new media artist Daito Manabe, recognised for his influential work with Rhizomatiks and closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
